The Ophel Archeological Gardens

This is an excavation site where they reveal layer after layer - and era after era of the area to the south of the Second Temple. It includes a little bit of an arch from the Second Temple (which became part of the basement of a Church and then a Mosque, or is it the other way round?) and is popular with Christians because there is a step there that it would be farily certain Jesus had trod upon.

There are many many mikvehs in the approach, where pilgrims would purify themselves before ascending. There are old tile floors from the houses of Kohains and levites who worked at the Temple. It is the most fascinating place of my whole trip.
