March 18 - This is a new GEDCOM. A few mistakes have been fixed and Paul's Roz has been added finally. Mode of the Frank Reid photo was fixed so others beside me can see it. Also, several of my "narratives" have been added - my own side comments, attempts to put some life and history into what is otherwise a dry collection of facts. SUGGESTION: Search for the strings "PHOTO" to find pictures, search for the string "NOTE" to find narratives.
Many many more photos and narratives are on thier way - MAIL ME YOURS! If you want to write an article about any of these people, family, or places, send it to me and I'll include it.
We know this view well in Lynx and Netscape, that it works poorly in SlipKnot (should be better than it was). Would like a report on Mosaic if anyone has tried it.
March 17 - Formatting should be cleaner looking for everyone, and should work for SlipKnot too (no longer relying on
, but explicitly keeping track of and setting list levels). And I figured out what I was doing wrong with the test picture of Frank Reid - now if you click on it, you should get a photo (dependent on your browser's abilities, of course. It's a jpeg file, and jpeg is what I plan to use since it uses the least space). Feedback on the workability of the picture especially wanted.
I do NOT use and will not use inlines - a waste of modem time. You'll see only the pictures you ask for.
March 11 - Added a picture of Frank Reid, but can't get the link to work. Worse, I see that while everything views OK in Lynx, Slipknot! seems to ignore my
commands and runs the whole thing into a single sentence. If anyone looks at it with any other browser (eg Mosaic, NetScape) I'd like to hear how it works.March 10, 1995 - I just added FAMILY links. Tho the onscreen appearance is still GEDCOM-funky, the basic navigation is pretty complete. When you open the document, you see an ugly database image. But if you are in an INDIVIDUAL record, any FAMILY references will display the lastnames of the spouses for that family; and if you click on them you will be taken to the FAMILY record. Complete INDIVIDUAL records have FAMC fields (family this indivual is a child of) and FAMS fields (family this individual is a spouse of). Once you get to the family record, all the INDIVIDUALS mentioned in that record will have links to the INDIVUAL records. Once you get used to it, you can figure out how to start from yourself and then find your way to your mother's father's sister's husband.
March 9, 1995 - So far, what you'll get here is mostly a raw GEDCOM data file, but all references to INDIVIDUALS within records have a link to the INDIVIDUAL RECORD.
